Ilhan Omar Search Warrant Not Fully Executed, Court Documents Reveal

The federal investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar’s immigration status and potential immigration fraud is ongoing, with court documents indicating that the search warrant executed at her Washington D.C. home on October 12 has not yet been fully completed. The filings were made as part of a legal battle between federal prosecutors and media outlets seeking to unseal the warrant documents.

In a court filing on Wednesday, U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro argued for the extension of deadlines related to the unsealing of records, citing that the search warrant was not yet fully executed. Prosecutors did not provide specific details on which elements of the warrant remain outstanding or an estimated completion date.

The probe is reportedly examining Omar's past marriages, particularly her relationship with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. Court documents refer to Omar using the alias "Nur Said Elmi" in connection with her ex-husband. Unsubstantiated theories, which Omar has vehemently denied, suggest Elmi is her brother and that they married for immigration purposes. Omar has described such claims as "insane" and a "right-wing conspiracy."

Omar, who was born in Somalia and came to the U.S. as a refugee in the mid-1990s, has previously stated that she filed for a marriage license with another ex-husband, Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi, in 2002 but never legally finalized the marriage. She later married Hirsi in 2018 and divorced a year later. Her legal marriage to Elmi was from 2009 to 2017, though she claims they separated "in our faith tradition" in 2011.

The investigation is also believed to be looking into the paperwork Omar filed to become a U.S. citizen. She was listed as 17 years old when her father became a citizen in 2000, which allowed her to obtain citizenship seamlessly. The current investigation reportedly questions whether she was actually 18 at the time.

Omar has denied any wrongdoing, accusing the Trump administration of politically motivated legal system. The New York Post previously reported that federal authorities believe they possess DNA evidence that could prove Omar committed immigration fraud, with sources suggesting the evidence might indicate Elmi is her brother.
