Ilhan Omar's Sister Skips Book Event Amid Sister's Federal Investigation
Sahra Noor was scheduled to appear at the University of Minnesota Rochester but did not attend, as Representative Ilhan Omar faces scrutiny over immigration fraud allegations.
Sahra Noor, the older sister of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., missed a scheduled book tour event at the University of Minnesota Rochester on Thursday night. Noor's absence comes as the congresswoman faces a federal investigation into potential immigration fraud and allegations of marriage fraud.
Noor, who is promoting her memoir "Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story," was reportedly subpoenaed in relation to the immigration probe involving her sister. She lives in Nairobi, Kenya, but has been on a global book tour. A flyer for the Rochester event, posted by Garden Party Books, indicated it was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Intercultural Student Center. Upon arrival, the space was empty, and no cancellation or rescheduling notices were received by those who RSVP'd.
Neither the University of Minnesota Rochester nor Garden City Books responded to requests for comment. Fox News Digital also reached out to Noor for comment without receiving a response.
The investigation into Rep. Omar reportedly stems from concerns that she or her late father fraudulently completed her citizenship paperwork decades ago. The Wall Street Journal reported that federal agents seized Omar's phone, passport, and computers during a search of her Washington, D.C. home earlier in the week. Omar has called the search an "outrageous abuse of power" and an "unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies."
Noor's book tour has included stops in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Cape Town, South Africa. Her next scheduled event is in Seattle on Oct. 23.
Rep. Omar has not been seen publicly since the raid on her home, fueling rumors that she may have left the country, though her husband denied such claims when questioned.
