Ilhan Omar's Sister Interviewed by Feds in Immigration Fraud Probe

Federal investigators interviewed Rep. Ilhan Omar's sister, Sahra Noor, following a search of the Minnesota Democrat's Washington, D.C. home as part of an ongoing immigration fraud investigation. The interview with Noor occurred after authorities searched the residence Omar shares with her husband, Tim Mynett, on Oct. 12, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Noor had been scheduled to appear at the University of Minnesota's Rochester branch for a book promotion event, but canceled due to a "family emergency," a representative for a local bookstore told Fox News Digital.

Earlier reports indicated that federal agents have obtained DNA samples in an effort to determine if Omar, and potentially other family members, defrauded immigration authorities. One source suggested the DNA evidence could be crucial to substantiating an allegation that Omar married her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 to help him obtain a green card, though that effort reportedly did not result in a green card.

Sources have also indicated that evidence gathered from Omar's home, along with information from whistleblowers and government records, provides a sufficient basis to present conspiracy to commit immigration fraud charges to a grand jury.

The immigration investigation into Omar is being handled by the Minnesota U.S. Attorney's Office. Separately, D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro is overseeing a probe into the finances of Omar and her husband, Mynett.
