Ilhan Omar's Husband Expresses No Concern Amid Immigration Probe

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, stated he has “no concerns” regarding the federal investigation into the Minnesota Democrat's immigration paperwork, following a raid on their Washington, D.C., home by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents. Mynett told Fox News Digital, “My wife came here when she was 12 years old as a child war refugee. No concerns.”

His remarks coincide with reports that Omar’s relatives, including her sister Sahra Noor, were issued subpoenas as part of HSI’s ongoing criminal inquiry into her immigration pathway to the United States. Fox News has also learned that multiple family members of Omar received subpoenas.

The subpoenas were issued a day after federal agents searched the couple's Washington D.C. residence, an operation confirmed by two sources familiar with the probe.

Reports also indicate that Omar’s staff assisted in altering her birth year from 1981 to 1982 in various official records and online platforms, including the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library, Wikipedia, and other media outlets. This altered birthdate was reportedly in use throughout her tenure in the Minnesota House and for several months into her congressional service.

Omar maintains her status as a naturalized citizen, having obtained derivative citizenship through her father at age 17, five years after arriving in the U.S. from Somalia as a child refugee. She continues to deny allegations of immigration fraud.

Omar has suggested that former President Donald Trump's rhetoric has fueled threats against her, posting on X, “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.”

Separately, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office is reportedly investigating Omar's financial disclosures, specifically regarding the reporting of her and Mynett’s shared net worth. Scrutiny intensified after her 2024 congressional financial disclosure listed business interests associated with Mynett valued between $6 million and $30 million. Omar's office later amended the filing, stating the initial figures were incorrect.
