Ilhan Omar's Husband Addresses Raid Allegations Amidst Federal Investigation

Tim Mynett, the husband of Rep. Ilhan Omar, has dismissed allegations that the congresswoman fled the United States following a federal raid on their Washington D.C. residence. Federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted the search on Monday as part of a criminal fraud investigation into Omar's immigration paperwork. The congresswoman has not been seen publicly since the raid.

Mynett was observed on multiple occasions near their shared home this week. When approached by reporters on Wednesday, he was asked about rumors of Omar leaving the country. "You guys are annoying the hell out of all the neighbors around here, man," Mynett responded, according to Fox News Digital.

During the HSI raid, Omar's cellphone and passport were reportedly seized. The investigation is reportedly examining the congresswoman's immigration filings and potential discrepancies in her financial disclosures. Rumors circulated that Omar may have left the country, intensifying speculation surrounding the federal probe.

Previously, Mynett had expressed confidence regarding the investigation. "My wife came here when she was 12 years old as a child war refugee. No concerns," he stated when asked about the probe earlier in the week. Subpoenas have reportedly been issued to at least two of Omar's relatives as part of the investigation.

Further scrutiny has focused on Omar's financial disclosures. Her 2024 disclosure initially listed business interests associated with Mynett valued between $6 million and $30 million. Omar's office later amended the filing, stating the figures were incorrect and mistakenly reflected the businesses' total equity rather than Mynett's ownership interest. The amended filing now lists his equity interests at $0.

President Donald Trump also commented on the situation via Truth Social, questioning Omar's reported net worth and her husband's income, and asking for answers regarding her immigration status and financial dealings.
