Ilhan Omar Faces New Scrutiny as U.S. Attorney's Office Investigates Financial Disclosures

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Tuesday that her office is investigating the financial disclosures of Rep. Ilhan Omar, a development that intensifies scrutiny on the Minnesota Democrat. This new line of inquiry comes just one day after federal agents executed a search warrant at Omar's Washington, D.C., home as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

The Justice Department confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents conducted the search on Monday. While the specifics of the federal investigation remain unclear, Pirro stated on Fox News' "America Reports" that her office is examining Omar's financial disclosures. These disclosures previously revealed a significant surge in the reported value of businesses associated with Omar's husband, Tim Mynett.

In filings reviewed by Fox News Digital earlier this year, two of Mynett's business ventures showed dramatic increases in valuation. The winery, eStCru LLC, reportedly grew from a value of $15,000-$50,000 in 2023 to between $1 million and $5 million in 2024. Rose Lake Capital LLC saw an even larger jump, from $1-$1,000 in 2023 to between $5 million and $25 million the following year. Combined, these businesses' reported values increased from approximately $15,000-$51,000 in 2023 to between $6 million and $30 million in 2024.

These figures drew attention from congressional Republicans, including House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., who requested financial records from companies linked to Mynett in February. In response to scrutiny, Omar amended her financial disclosures in April. The revised filings reduced the couple's combined reported assets to between $18,004 and $95,000, listing her husband's businesses as having no net value after accounting for liabilities. Omar's office stated at the time that the initial disclosures failed to properly account for liabilities, creating a misleading financial picture, and the congresswoman has consistently denied being a millionaire.

In September, the Office of Congressional Conduct voted to recommend that the House Ethics Committee dismiss misconduct allegations related to the financial disclosures, finding no substantial reason to believe Omar violated federal law or House rules. This congressional review is separate from the current federal investigation and the financial disclosure probe announced by Pirro.

Omar's most recent annual financial disclosure, filed in May, reported assets totaling between $20,000 and $125,000, according to an analysis by the Minnesota Star Tribune. The filing also noted student loan and credit card debt associated with her husband. The Somali-born congresswoman has previously asserted that the Trump administration targeted her for political reasons, particularly following the recent search of her D.C. residence.
