Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., recently posted a video to Facebook where she claimed that Minnesota liberals "defeated ICE's racist terror campaign." The 10-second clip, which Omar shared on Wednesday, appears to mimic a popular social media trend where individuals act as if they are participating in a documentary.
In the video, Omar is seated and adjusts her blazer while dramatic instrumental music plays. A text overlay reads, "Me preparing for the documentary on how we defeated ICE’s racist terror campaign in Minnesota." She captioned the post, "We’re built different in Minnesota," accompanied by an arm muscle and a blue heart emoji.
The post quickly garnered negative reactions on social media platforms. Users criticized the video, with one commenter on X describing it as "so cringe" and another alluding to a congressional investigation into Omar's finances, alongside a fraud scheme in her district.
Critics also challenged Omar's statement that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had been "defeated" in Minnesota. The White House reported that ICE apprehended over 4,000 undocumented immigrants in Minnesota during an operation called Operation Metro Surge in early 2026. Some users questioned Omar's definition of "defeated."
