Identical twins Nik and Jon Daughtry, known for their near-identical tastes, are seeing one of their jointly built homes on the market. Jon Daughtry has placed his five-bedroom home, located next to his twin brother Nik's property in Oughtibridge, South Yorkshire, up for sale.

The brothers, now 56, appeared on the Channel 4 show 'Grand Designs' in 2018 for their project, which involved building two matching industrial-style homes on the site of a derelict corn mill. The ambitious construction took nearly three years to complete, facing delays and a budget that spiraled from an initial projection of £345,000 to a final cost of £610,000. Each brother had to secure an additional £70,000 from the bank to finish the build.

Their bond was evident as they ran a business together, drove similar cars, and even owned matching dogs. The 'Grand Designs' episode highlighted their close relationship, with Jon telling viewers, 'We are just so close, so alike. He's my best friend.' The two properties were numbered 14A and 14B, with the adjoining mill pond also divided between them.

Jon's home, 14A, is now listed for offers in excess of £1 million. The steel-framed residence is built on stilts above the original mill machinery. Estate agents describe the property as a 'true triumph of industrial design,' featuring a split-level kitchen, floor-to-ceiling glazing, a mezzanine lounge, and a principal bedroom with a view of the surrounding trees.

Despite initial fan speculation that the sale might signal trouble between the brothers, Jon has dismissed such notions. He stated that the sale does not indicate any rift, explaining, 'My brother's fine. He's releasing me - he's letting me go.' He added that they continue to work together extensively.

Jon and his wife Alison are reportedly seeking a new 'Grand Designs-style challenge,' expressing a desire for a smaller rural property in need of renovation. Jon indicated that his wife's farming background has influenced their search for a potential new project.

The project was not without its challenges, as 'Grand Designs' viewers witnessed. The construction timeline extended significantly, and the final costs exceeded initial estimates. Presenter Kevin McCloud was impressed by the completed homes, noting their uncompromising industrial aesthetic with exposed concrete floors, steel staircases, and bare block walls, describing the development as 'absolutely epic.'

Both properties have also served as backdrops for television productions and commercial shoots. While Jon once expressed no desire to leave the development, he is now embarking on a new chapter, leaving his brother Nik in the adjacent matching home.
