Iconic ‘Notting Hill’ Blue Door Home Listed for $10 Million

The London townhouse with the iconic blue door from the 1999 film “Notting Hill” has been listed for $10.05 million, offering a piece of cinematic history to potential buyers. The property served as the exterior for the home of Hugh Grant’s character, William Thacker, in the beloved romantic comedy.

The three-bedroom residence, located in the Notting Hill neighborhood, spans 2,752 square feet and is being marketed by Sotheby’s International Realty. Its signature blue door became a pop-culture landmark after featuring in one of the film's memorable scenes.

Interestingly, the house once belonged to the film's screenwriter, Richard Curtis, who also penned “Love Actually” and “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” Curtis has shared that the film's production designer, Stuart Craig, inadvertently selected his own home for the movie.

While interior scenes were filmed on a studio set, the property’s facade and distinctive blue door were used for the movie. The original door was later sold at auction to deter fans from visiting the actual house, with the current door being a replacement painted the same shade.

The home boasts an open-plan living space with vaulted ceilings and skylights, a design originally intended for an artist's studio. The primary bedroom includes a fireplace, a large closet, and an en-suite bathroom. Outside, a rooftop terrace offers views of Notting Hill, and a courtyard garden provides additional outdoor space.

This listing follows a trend of famous film locations appearing on the market. In 2023, a townhouse from the romantic comedy “Love Actually,” featured in a memorable scene with newlyweds Juliet and Mark, was listed for $3.45 million.
