ICE Officer Points Gun at Unarmed Bystander During Hollywood Arrest
Video footage shows a tense encounter where a federal agent allegedly shoved a gun in the face of a civilian during an arrest in North Hollywood, California.
A dramatic video captured the moment an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer pointed a gun at an unarmed bystander during a tense operation in North Hollywood, California.
The incident occurred Friday morning around 8:30 a.m. Federal agents apprehended a man on the sidewalk, prompting witnesses to question the agents' approach.
Damari Butler, who recorded the encounter, told the Los Angeles Times that he was on his balcony when he observed two masked agents tackle a man without apparent warning. "There was no asking his name, no ID, nothing. They just grabbed him," Butler stated.
The video begins with two ICE agents detaining a man while a bystander walked two dogs. Shortly after, another agent, also masked, approached the bystander, instructing him to step back. This agent then appeared to shove the bystander into a bush and point a handgun at his face as the dogs barked.
The bystander was soon released and heard exclaiming, "What the f** is wrong with you?"
The agents proceeded to place the handcuffed man into an SUV. Bystanders were heard asking if the incident was being recorded. The man being detained repeatedly screamed, with one officer appearing to pull out a taser.
Footage concluded with four officers surrounding the man as bystanders expressed alarm.
The identity of the detained individual and the reason for his arrest have not been disclosed. He was the only person taken into custody during the operation. The Department of Homeland Security has been contacted for comment.
