The husband of a North Carolina woman who has been missing in Grenada for over a week stated he does not believe foul play was involved in her disappearance. Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, 44, was on a three-week vacation with a friend in the Grand Anse beach resort area when she went missing last Wednesday.
Her husband, Cailen Waddell, shared in a post on FindLiz.com, a website dedicated to the search, that after consulting with family, local authorities, and the U.S. Embassy, he and officials believe no foul play occurred. He noted that Waddell was last seen swimming in the ocean near Grand Anse around 5:30 p.m., reportedly far from shore, and had expressed confidence in her swimming abilities.
Despite the extensive search efforts, Waddell has not yet been located. Cailen Waddell, an operations manager for Cary’s department of parks, recreation and cultural resources, expressed gratitude for the authorities' efforts but indicated the missing person investigation would continue. He specifically mentioned a hope to determine Waddell's actions between the last time she was seen on video and when she was observed in the water, as well as any subsequent sightings.
Waddell is described as a travel enthusiast who previously shared photos of her international trips with her husband and their adopted adult daughter. Family members have begun returning to the United States as the search efforts continue.
