Hurricane Isaias Impacts Alabama-Georgia Game, Halts Trump Attendance

Hurricane Isaias made landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast, impacting college football schedules, including the highly anticipated game between No. 6 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia in Tuscaloosa. The storm's progression toward the Atlantic Coast forced ESPN's "College GameDay" to move indoors and prompted school officials to halt tailgating until noon local time.

President Donald Trump's attendance at the game was also canceled due to the storm. Both teams entered the matchup undefeated at 5-0, marking the ninth time since the 2018 national championship that both squads were ranked within the top 10.

The weather conditions could influence the game's play, particularly the rushing and passing attacks. Georgia averages 198.3 rushing yards per game, ranking 28th nationally, while Alabama is close behind with 186.4 rushing yards per game. However, both teams lean heavily on the run, with Alabama passing 27.2 times per game (99th nationally) and Georgia averaging 26.3 passes per contest (105th).

While the rain was expected to cease by kickoff, nearly 24 hours of precipitation could have transformed the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium into a challenging environment, despite its advanced drainage system. The game was set to be a significant SEC contest, shaping the trajectory of both teams' seasons. Alabama aimed to make a statement early in the Kalen DeBoer era, while Kirby Smart sought to secure regular-season victories against the Crimson Tide.
