Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has stated that he "may have to" run for president in 2028 during an interview on WABC's Cats Roundtable radio show with John Catsimatidis. Biden, who has been open about his struggles with addiction and faced federal gun and tax charges, presented his commitment to the rule of law as his primary qualification for the presidency.

"If I get your [Catsimatidis’] endorsement, I may have to [run for president]. The things I care most about is the 50 million Americans that are still suffering with their addictions," Biden said during the interview. He further elaborated on his qualification, stating, "Here is my qualification for becoming president, if you believe in the Constitution of the United States of America that you swear to uphold and protect. I want the next president to commit to one thing: to adhering to the rule of law."

Biden's past military service includes his dismissal from the Navy in 2014 after testing positive for cocaine. His previous public attention related to a presidential campaign stemmed from revelations concerning his "Laptop from Hell," which reportedly detailed alleged influence peddling on behalf of his father's position as vice president. The contents of the laptop were also used as evidence in his federal trials.

During the interview, Biden also touched on his personal life, noting he is "48.6 percent" gay. He ultimately did not make a firm commitment to running for president, suggesting that the Democratic Party has a strong roster of potential candidates, mentioning Gavin Newsom as someone he personally admires.
