Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has stated that he is "definitely not running for anything," concluding a period of extensive media appearances.
During an interview on the "Macrodosing" podcast, a host suggested Biden might be considering a run for office, prompted by his recent public engagements. Biden responded directly, "I'm definitely not running for anything," adding humorously that he might if he secured the podcast host's endorsement.
Biden has recently appeared on several podcasts, including NPR's "Newsmakers," California Gov. Gavin Newsom's show, and podcasts hosted by Don Lemon and "I've Had It." His media tour has included appearances on programs hosted by both liberal and conservative figures.
During the "Macrodosing" interview, Biden also defended his father's performance in a 2024 debate, attributing it to an undisclosed prostate and bone cancer diagnosis. He described his father's appearance as unusual, stating he had "never seen this" before and that the president looked "blank."
Biden's cancer diagnosis was publicly revealed the following year. He maintained that his father's debate performance was unexpected and that he had not seen him in such a state prior to that event. President Biden issued his son a pardon in late 2024, prior to sentencing for tax evasion and federal gun charges.
In a separate interview with the "I've Had It" podcast in July, Hunter Biden identified his father's appointment of Merrick Garland as Attorney General as a significant mistake during his administration. He stated that, setting aside personal feelings, he believed Garland's leadership represented his father's "greatest mistake."
