Hundreds of Lindsay Clancy supporters gathered outside the courthouse Thursday morning, many clad in pink, to express solidarity as her trial continues. Clancy, 36, is accused of murdering her three children – Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan – in January 2023.

Clancy has admitted to killing her children but has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis. Her defense is seeking her commitment to a state mental health facility rather than a prison sentence. On Wednesday, her defense team received a notable endorsement when Clancy's psychologist testified that she was too ill to be held criminally responsible for the deaths.

As Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, arrived, the crowd cheered and clapped. When asked for a message to the supporters, Reddington stated, "Thank you," and assured them their support would be conveyed to Clancy. Cheers also erupted when Clancy's transport van passed by the demonstration.

The incident occurred in Duxbury, Massachusetts. On the day of the killings, Clancy reportedly asked her husband, Patrick Clancy, to leave the home to get takeout food and pick up an item from a pharmacy. She then used exercise bands to strangle the children and subsequently attempted to end her own life. Her suicide attempt resulted in paralysis; she fell from the home's second-story window and is now wheelchair-bound. She is currently being held at a state hospital.

This case has been referred to as "America's saddest murder trial."
