Hulu's October Streaming Slate Features New Series, Returning Favorites, and Live Sports

Hulu is set to release a diverse array of content in October, including the debut of the mystery comedy series "Phony," the highly anticipated sixth season of "Abbott Elementary," and the thirteenth season of "American Horror Story." The streaming service will also feature new episodes from ABC's fall television schedule and live NHL games.

New and Returning Series

The month kicks off with "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" continuing its fifth season and "Dancing With the Stars" airing new episodes weekly. "American Horror Story: 13" premiered last week, featuring a motif centered around the number 13 and bringing back numerous fan favorites from previous seasons. The crime comedy "The Lowdown," starring Ethan Hawke, returns for its second season on October 14, with the first two episodes airing at 9 p.m. ET. "Phony," a new mystery comedy from the writer of "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On," is set to premiere on October 14. This series follows a teenage boy who suspects his mother has been replaced after a car accident.

ABC Fall Premieres on Hulu

Fans can catch up with ABC's returning scripted series on Hulu. Among the notable premieres are "Scrubs" and "Shark Tank" on September 30, followed by "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune" on October 2. "Abbott Elementary" will debut its sixth season on October 7, with episodes streaming Thursdays. The hospital drama "Grey's Anatomy" returns for its 23rd season on October 15, alongside the premiere of "9-1-1" and "9-1-1: Nashville."

Halloween-Themed Content and Movies

In anticipation of Halloween, "Coven Academy," a series about teenage witches protecting New Orleans, will be available in full on October 2. The movie lineup for October includes "Soulm8te" (2026) and "Ghostbusters" (1984) on October 1, with "Barbarian" (2022) also available. Other additions include "The Substance" (2024) on October 2, "Hereditary" (2018) and "Midsommar" (2019) on October 3, "Hokum" (2026) on October 10, and "Companion" (2025) on October 18.

NHL on Hulu

Hulu will also stream a selection of eight NHL games throughout October at no additional cost to subscribers. These games include matchups such as the Philadelphia Flyers vs. New Jersey Devils and the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Utah Mammoth on October 1, and continue with games spread throughout the month, featuring teams like the San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Islanders.
