Hugo Taylor Breaks Silence on Split from Millie Mackintosh Amid New Relationship
The former Made In Chelsea star expressed sadness over his divorce but emphasized gratitude for his daughters, following his ex-wife's public debut with a new partner.
Hugo Taylor has broken his silence regarding his divorce from Millie Mackintosh, admitting that the past year has been marked by "considerable sadness." His statement comes eight months after his ex-wife publicly revealed her new relationship with Matthew Tanner.
Taylor, 40, shared his thoughts via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, stating that he had previously refrained from public comment to respect his family's privacy and ensure stability for their two daughters, Sienna, six, and Aurelia, four. He expressed his gratitude for his daughters, emphasizing his commitment to being the best father he can be by providing them with "love, security and consistency."
He also noted the support he has received from friends and family, looking toward the future with "faith and optimism."
This personal statement follows a series of events indicating a shift in his former wife's life. Last week, Taylor shared a poignant quote on Instagram: "All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither. Deep roots are not reached by the frost." This quote, from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring," intentionally reverses the proverb "All that glitters is not gold," suggesting that outward appearances can be deceptive.
Mackintosh, 37, was recently photographed holding hands with Matthew Tanner, 38, described as a Welsh fitness enthusiast, during a dog walk in Chelsea. The couple appeared affectionate and later attended the Boodles Old Bond Street flagship opening together. Mackintosh officially introduced Tanner on Instagram shortly thereafter.
Tanner works as a Global Solutions Director and Programme Director at Robert Walters Consultancy. His social media suggests a strong focus on fitness, with an interest in endurance racing and ultra-marathons. He previously played amateur rugby but stopped in 2025 due to a knee injury. Tanner attended Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he studied Biomedical Sciences and Nutrition.
It is speculated that Mackintosh may have met Tanner through the celebrity dating app Raya, which she reportedly joined over the summer. Sources close to Mackintosh indicated at the time that she was not rushing into a new relationship but was open to "having some fun and getting back out there."
Taylor and Mackintosh, both former stars of the reality series "Made In Chelsea," first met and began dating in 2011. Their initial relationship famously ended after six months when Mackintosh discovered Taylor had been unfaithful with her friend. She later threw a drink in his face during a scene filmed for the show.
Following separate life paths, Mackintosh married rapper Professor Green (Stephen Manderson) and later divorced him in 2016. She described that relationship as "toxic" in later reflections. Taylor and Mackintosh reconciled in 2016, marrying and eventually having their two daughters. They had also reportedly undertaken a significant renovation of their west London home.
The couple's split was reported in February, and their daughters now divide their time between their separate residences.
