Hublot Unveils Limited-Edition 'Balloon Dog' Watch Collaborating with Jeff Koons
The luxury timepiece features design elements inspired by the artist's iconic balloon dog sculptures.
Hublot has announced a collaboration with artist Jeff Koons, resulting in the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog watch and the MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons in the Exceptional Timepieces collection. The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog watch directly incorporates design elements from Koons’ well-known sculptures of balloon dogs.
The watch's design includes convex domes on the dial and rounded titanium screws, intended to mimic the inflated appearance of the balloon sculptures. A crown shaped like a balloon's inflation valve and a flexible “tail” at the 10:30 position further nod to Koons' artistic theme.
"Translating Balloon Dog into the language of the Classic Fusion required far more than fusing an artwork with an existing watch," Koons stated. "It was reconstructed to create the illusion of inflated volume and tension, as though each component had been shaped by air pressure."
The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog is available in three colors: red, blue, and silver. The red and blue versions are made of anodized aluminum, while the silver model is crafted from polished stainless steel. Each color is limited to a production of 200 pieces.
All three variations are powered by the self-winding HUB1710 movement and are priced at $25,100. The watches also feature rubber straps with a debossed leather insert to extend the illusion of inflation around the wrist.
