Several former employees of The Howard Stern Show are reportedly negotiating their severance packages following recent layoffs from SiriusXM. The laid-off staffers, numbering around a dozen, were offered one week of pay for each year they worked, an amount many have declined.
Sources indicate that some former employees have not signed the non-disclosure agreements attached to their severance packages and are pushing for more favorable terms. However, other insiders suggest that some negotiations have led to satisfactory final packages after discussions with HR executives.
Howard Stern, 72, signed a new contract in December 2025 to continue his show on SiriusXM for another three years, extending his commitment at least through 2028. He stated that the new contract would provide him with more flexibility and free time while still allowing him to broadcast. Stern reportedly retained a core group of veteran producers, with the layoffs attributed to a reduced need for content as he transitions to one new show per week after Labor Day.
One former staffer, Jonathan Blitt, has humorously acknowledged his layoff by posting a video of himself at a new job at an Old Navy store, joking about the transition with a reference to the film "Glengarry Glen Ross."
