How to Earn Extra Income Through Gig Economy Apps
People are turning to app-based services to supplement their income with flexible work.
For individuals looking to earn additional income, the gig economy offers a variety of opportunities through smartphone applications. These platforms connect users with tasks and services they can perform for neighbors and others in their community.
One such platform, Airtasker, has seen significant user engagement, with 191,000 users posting tasks in the past 12 months and 89,000 individuals registering as "Taskers" to complete them. Alison Goldsmith, a 60-year-old, has found success using Airtasker to perform odd jobs.
"I started using Airtasker when caring for my dad a couple of years ago," Alison stated. "It was hard to fit in work around that, and I liked the variety, flexibility and spontaneity."
Alison has reported earning approximately $250 in a single day by helping neighbors with various tasks. The app allows users to arrange for services such as assistance with odd jobs, cleaning, or deliveries.
Platforms like Airtasker facilitate these connections, enabling individuals to monetize their skills and time by completing tasks for others. The flexibility offered by these apps allows individuals to manage their work schedules around personal commitments.
