Holt, a sports writer, noted the stark contrast between the often vitriolic environment of sports-related social media and the kinder, more positive atmosphere of Coronation Street fan communities online. He sent out pages of scripts to many respondents, who in turn shared how they planned to use them – as gifts for loved ones, or as a connection to their own childhoods spent watching the show with family.

The initiative brought a smile to his mother's face when Holt told her about the outpouring of appreciation and the positive reactions to the distributed scripts. He also shared that his teenage son, who had inherited the family's acting gene, was excelling in his own theatrical pursuits.

Eileen Derbyshire, who played Emily Bishop from 1960 to 2016, was known for her portrayal of a warm, loving, and funny character, starkly different from her often-worried on-screen persona.
