Black, a former CEO of Apollo Global Management, had business ties to Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The committee had sought information from Black as part of its ongoing investigation into financial entanglements with Epstein.
Black did not appear before the committee as requested and did not produce the documents that were subpoenaed. The contempt resolution passed by the committee now moves to the full House for consideration. If approved by the House, the matter could be referred to the Department of Justice for potential criminal prosecution.
