The House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly Tuesday evening to censure Rep. Chuck Edwards, a Republican from North Carolina, after the House Ethics Committee recommended the formal punishment. The resolution passed with a vote of 413-2, with 207 Republicans and one independent joining 205 Democrats in support.

The censure stems from an investigation into whether Edwards created or fostered a hostile work environment and engaged in sexual harassment, violating House Rules, laws, or other standards of conduct. During a debate on the censure resolution earlier Tuesday, Edwards stated that he is "imperfect" and offered an apology to his wife, Theresa. However, he maintained that his regret was "not an admission of sexual harassment" and asserted, "I did not violate harassment law."
