Congressional candidate Claire Valdez marked America's 250th birthday with a social media post asserting that the nation's system is rigged against its citizens.
Valdez, a candidate for New York's 7th congressional district and formerly of Lubbock, Texas, wrote on X that "freedom is only possible when we have the conditions for the good life — healthcare, housing, education, and dignity on the job." She further stated, "But the system is rigged and our planet poisoned by billionaires, bosses, and war profiteers."
Her message, posted on July 4th, continued, "This 4th of July we recommit ourselves to remaking it. To fight for liberation from Palestine to Puerto Rico, for a Green New Deal, for the world we deserve." The post did not specifically mention the United States or America.
Valdez is reportedly backed by Zohran Mamdani, a member of the New York City Council.
