Houston police responded to a residence on Sunday where they discovered two individuals, identified as roommates of the homeowner, deceased. The homeowner, who was not present at the time of the incident, found the victims upon returning to the house.
Authorities have stated that the victims, a man and a woman both between the ages of 20 and 30, were discovered with apparent gunshot wounds. Investigators found no weapons at the scene, and preliminary findings suggest the victims did not inflict the fatal wounds on each other. The Houston Police Department Homicide Detective Cory Sharp indicated that investigators believe a third party is responsible for the killings.
The suspect or suspects have not been located. The residence is equipped with several surveillance cameras, which police plan to review as part of the ongoing investigation. The incident is believed to be isolated and does not present a threat to the public, according to law enforcement officials.
Police are asking for anyone with information to contact the Houston Police Department. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
In a separate incident in Houston earlier this month, a woman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a suspected murder-suicide that also claimed the lives of her two young children. Police found the 40-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son deceased in a hotel room on July 3.
