Outrage erupted in Sydney after a homeless woman was reportedly forced to relinquish her trolley, containing what appeared to be her life’s belongings, before a train would depart from Cabramatta Station. The incident, captured by a commuter, highlights tensions surrounding public transport regulations and the treatment of vulnerable individuals.

The footage shows the woman with a large laundry bag, shopping bags, and a light blue blanket packed into a trolley. A fellow commuter confronted her, stating that the shopping trolley was not permitted on the train and that the train would not leave the station if it remained. He explained that the train driver had made an announcement and threatened to call the police if the trolley was not removed.

The woman explained her intention to disembark in just two stops, but the commuter insisted, citing the driver's directive. "He's going to stop my train, he's going to call the cops, and then they're just going to take you out," the commuter told her. Faced with this ultimatum, the woman conceded, asking the commuter to take the trolley off the train before accusing him of theft.

The commuter, who posted the video to Instagram with the caption "Not having my train delayed because of a trolley," then informed the train driver that the trolley had been removed.

Social media users widely condemned the commuter's actions and his lack of empathy, with many pointing out the potential significance of the belongings to the woman. "You see a homeless woman with a trolley which probably carries her life’s belongings and rather than telling the train driver (hero number 2) to mind his own business you grab her cart and push it off the train," one user commented sarcastically. Another echoed, "It was like two stops on a non-packed train so maybe show some compassion."

According to Transport for NSW, shopping trolleys are prohibited on station platforms, metros, and trains. Daily Mail Australia has contacted Transport for NSW for comment regarding the incident.
