Homeless Candidate Interrupts Santa Monica City Council Debate
Lindsay Davis, also known as "Daisey," took the stage during a debate and addressed the audience before leading them in breathing exercises.
A Santa Monica City Council candidate, who has publicly identified as homeless, disrupted a recent debate by unexpectedly entering the stage and addressing the audience.
Lindsay Davis, who uses the name "Daisey," was observed in the audience with a microphone before walking onto the stage during the event. Video footage shows her approaching the stage and speaking to an audience member before joining the candidates. Once on stage, Davis began an unconventional address to the crowd.
"An unconditional… to look out for each other," she stated before continuing, "And with a magical boop — BOOP! BOOP! BOOP! BOOP! — Pretend that I booped everyone, I only get two and a half minutes."
Her abrupt appearance appeared to surprise the other candidates, who were seen observing her. Davis continued her remarks, stating, "And I gotta be the DJ, I gotta be the dancer, I gotta be the politician — something I’ve never done. And I love the political mumbo jumbo, and I swear I will learn to speak it, I will do all of that."
The candidate then removed her red top and proceeded with stretching exercises on stage, inviting the audience and her fellow candidates to participate. She instructed, "I want you to take a deep breath. Inhale through your nose and breathe out through your mouth." Holding her skateboard, she added, "Santa Monica, go. You want me to pick one topic? I will give you one topic: your breath."
This incident has drawn attention to Davis's campaign for a seat on the Santa Monica City Council. Her campaign website identifies her as the "Venice Healer," focusing on wellness, community, and "social healing." Her campaign materials also emphasize her personal experience with homelessness as a motivating factor in her political aspirations.
Prior to her political run, Davis was known in Venice for her involvement with the local homeless community and a controversial tiny-home project on the Venice Boardwalk. In 2024, a structure she constructed with volunteer assistance became a focal point for discussions about homelessness and public space before it was dismantled following a confrontation with authorities. Davis has also indicated on her website an early interest in politics, alleging an encounter with former President Ronald Reagan in her youth.
