The family home of Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, the late bassist for the iconic band The Stone Roses, has been listed for sale with an asking price of £1.05 million. The property, located near Stockport in Greater Manchester, is on the market approximately nine months after the musician's death.

Mounfield, 63, died at the residence last November from respiratory issues linked to long-standing emphysema. His passing occurred nearly two years after his wife, Imelda, died from cancer at age 52, leaving their teenage twin sons orphaned.

The five-bedroom Victorian house, situated in the suburb of Heaton Moor, is described by estate agents John Mellor as a "stunning and most imposing semi-detached family home." The property features five double bedrooms and three bathrooms spread across four floors, including cellar rooms that Mounfield reportedly used as a personal retreat, complete with records, a guitar, and a portrait of former Manchester United striker Eric Cantona. Estate agents note the house "oozes with the charm and character of its era."

The red-brick home was purchased by the Mounfields in 2014 for £470,000 and is being marketed with no onward chain. The sale follows a difficult period for the couple's sons, Gene and George, who are reportedly now in the guardianship of their uncle, Greg Mounfield.

Mounfield, who played on The Stone Roses' studio albums and later joined Primal Scream, had posted a tribute to his late wife just 48 hours before his own death, marking the second anniversary of her passing from stage-four bowel cancer. He wrote, "We miss her every day, but we have learnt to adapt to her being in 'the next room.' We can't see or touch you, but we feel your presence every day. Rest well my love."

Mani and Imelda Mounfield met in 1992 during recording sessions for The Stone Roses' second album, "Second Coming," and were married for approximately 25 years.

Mounfield's death prompted widespread grief and tributes from fellow musicians and fans. Liam Gallagher, frontman of Oasis and a close friend, expressed shock over the loss of "my hero." Tributes were also shared by Shaun Ryder of Happy Mondays and Joy Division bassist Peter Hook. Mani's bandmate Ian Brown posted a simple "REST IN PEACE MANi X."
