Home and Away Star Sarah Roberts Undergoes Surgery for Fibroid

Actress Sarah Roberts has undergone surgery to remove a fibroid, which she nicknamed 'Felicia', after experiencing severe symptoms that repeatedly led her to emergency rooms. The former Home and Away star shared her experience on Instagram, a week after the myomectomy procedure.

Roberts described the fibroid as having grown to the size of a golf ball, causing intense pain during her period and making daily activities difficult. "She'd grown to the size of a golf ball, sending me to emergency whenever my period came and making it impossible to do anything without looking like I'd stepped off the set of Kill Bill! Time for her to leave the building!" she wrote.

Her boyfriend, Jake Iesu, flew back from Vancouver to assist her during her recovery. Roberts also recounted an instance where a fellow patient in the hospital helped her reach her breakfast because she was unable to. "The woman in the next cubicle, who'd had her own ovaries removed, heard me crying because I couldn't reach for my toast and got out of her own bed to butter and honey it for me," she shared.

Friends and family provided support through gifts, food, and messages. Roberts expressed gratitude for the kindness shown by strangers, nurses, and surgeons. "I was blown away by the kindness of strangers, nurses, surgeons and everyone who showed up for me," she stated.

The experience prompted a shift in perspective for Roberts, who reflected on the importance of rest and connection over constant productivity. "Maybe this is my reminder that constant productivity doesn't equal worth. We need wonder, connection and rest, too. Life isn't a to-do list. It's a gift," she wrote.

Roberts, who played Willow on Home and Away from 2017 to 2021, mentioned that her goals during her hospital stay became simplified to showering, moving, and having coffee, with an emphasis on moving slower and laughing more.
