Billy Evans, the husband of convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes, has revealed he harbored concerns that his wife might have been pursuing him for his wealth. These admissions are featured in the trailer for the upcoming A24 documentary, "You Can See Everything."
Director Nathan Fielder spent 34 days documenting Holmes's life as she prepared to begin her 11-year prison sentence. The film captures intimate moments with Holmes and Evans, heir to the Evans Hotel Group, and their two young children.
Holmes, 42, was found guilty in 2022 of defrauding investors through her biotech company, Theranos. The company had falsely claimed it could perform hundreds of blood tests using a single drop of blood, a claim that significantly inflated Theranos's valuation to $9 billion before being exposed by The Wall Street Journal.
Evans, who met Holmes in 2017, stated in the trailer that he believes he fell in love with her before he was aware of the Theranos scandal. When Fielder questioned if he suspected Holmes was after his family's fortune, Evans responded, "100%, but what was she going to gain from me?" He added, "There's a lot of different levels of wealth," before the trailer cuts off.
In a separate moment, Evans assured Fielder that he never suspected Holmes of lying to him directly. The trailer also includes footage of the couple together, including scenes of them jogging on a beach, holding hands in their kitchen, and playing with their children in their San Diego home.
One poignant shot shows Holmes through the bars of a crib, a visual metaphor for her impending incarceration. The trailer concludes with Fielder expressing a lingering feeling that there are things he is not seeing, to which Holmes responds, "I don't have anything to hide."
Homes is currently serving her sentence at a minimum-security prison in Bryan, Texas, while Evans remains in San Diego with their children.
