Laura Scarpati, a Hollywood producer who previously worked on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," has recounted the harrowing experience of being run over by a car while four months pregnant in August 2020. The accident, which occurred outside her doctor's office in Rochester, New York, resulted in severe injuries but miraculously spared her and her unborn child.

Scarpati was waiting in the parking lot due to COVID-19 protocols when an elderly driver mistook the accelerator for the brake, accelerating over her as she sat with her legs crossed. "My body was crushed under the weight of two tires," Scarpati told the Daily Mail. The tires narrowly missed her pregnant belly, with one going over her shoulder and the other over her hip.

She sustained a shattered hip socket, fractured pelvis, a broken rib, a broken elbow, and severe road rash. The immediate aftermath was a blur of pain and fear, with Scarpati experiencing what she described as an out-of-body experience before returning to consciousness unable to move. "I thought neither [me nor the baby] were going to make it through this alive," she recalled.

During her three-week hospital stay and subsequent three months of home recovery, Scarpati underwent surgery to place a plate and six screws in her hip. The recovery process was physically and mentally demanding, requiring her to relearn how to walk. She described the period as "dark," exacerbated by COVID-19 restrictions that limited visitors.

Despite the trauma, Scarpati's baby survived and was born healthy in January 2021. The accident, however, prompted a deep introspection about her life. She realized that the pressures of her high-profile career and striving to be a "perfect mom" had masked underlying unhappiness and an inflated ego.

"While the accident broke my body, it cracked me open in a way that I felt like I was discovering life for the first time," Scarpati stated. This epiphany led her to leave her television career.

She no longer works in TV and instead runs her own podcast, The Woo Report

Currently, Scarpati hosts a podcast called "The Woo Report," where she focuses on self-awareness and personal growth. She also created a documentary, "The Isaiah House Project," exploring near-death experiences. Her hope in sharing her story is to encourage others to examine their own lives and prioritize inner well-being.

In January 2021, Scarpati gave birth to her second son, now five
