Hollywood Hills Chalet Once Owned by 'Days of Our Lives' Star Lists for $2.99 Million

A Hollywood Hills residence designed to resemble a mountain chalet has been listed for sale at $2.99 million.

The 4,598-square-foot home at 8497 Harold Way was built in 1954 and was previously owned by Peter Reckell, known for his role as Bo Brady on the long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” Reckell owned the property for 19 years, from 1984 to 2003.

"It looks like you are in Aspen," said listing broker Bianca Fields of Carolwood Estates. "But it feels like Disneyland, like it’s not even real," added co-listing broker Adriana Yedidsion.

The property features a distinctive peaked roof and a "country and rock-n-roll vibe," according to Yedidsion. During his ownership, Reckell, also a musician, added a soundproof recording studio to the home. "Everything is thought out with intention. [Reckell] spent a lot of time tinkering with the house and being playful," Yedidsion noted.

The home is characterized by exposed beams, custom woodwork, and ironwork, set amidst mature trees. Inside, unique features include a corrugated iron art wall in the entryway. The living room is centered around a stone fireplace and has tall windows, wood floors, and a high ceiling.

The open kitchen and dining area includes integrated wine and glass storage. Additional interior spaces include a family room and a separate billiards room. The main suite upstairs boasts vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, a private deck, a walk-in closet, and a spa-like bathroom. An upstairs gallery overlooks the living room, providing a space for reading or relaxation.

Reckell, who played Bo from 1983 to 1987 and returned intermittently until 2023, was married to co-star Dale Kristien from 1987 to 1991. He later married singer-songwriter Kelly Moneymaker in 1998.

The property is being sold by a trust associated with the late celebrity plastic surgeon Stephen Pincus. The listing is shared by Carolwood Estates and The CREM Group.
