Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, a popular Hollywood bar known for its 1970s retro theme and hidden refrigerator entrance, was temporarily shut down by the Los Angeles County Public Health Department due to a vermin infestation. The closure, which occurred on Thursday, stemmed from nine health code violations.
The primary reason for the shutdown was a significant violation related to the presence of insects, rodents, and other animals. The establishment also received eight other violations, including minor issues and general requirement infractions concerning plumbing and handwashing facilities.
Despite the closure, the bar appeared to be operational by Monday, as it advertised an event for that evening on its social media page. Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, founded in 2014, features a secret entrance through a refrigerator, a backyard patio with an Airstream trailer bar, and is known for its cocktails and live music.
This incident follows other recent health-code related closures in Los Angeles. Last month, Olio Wood Fired Pizzeria, Shiku, and McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams in Grand Central Market were temporarily shut down but later reopened after addressing their violations. Additionally, Di Pillas Pizzeria in Rosemead and Phovorite in Culver City also experienced temporary closures due to vermin infestations in the past month.
