Holly Hagan Marks One Year Since Sister's Death
Reality TV personality Holly Hagan shared an emotional tribute on Instagram commemorating the first anniversary of her sister Darci's death at age 19 from an accidental MDMA overdose.
Holly Hagan has shared a heartfelt Instagram post marking one year since her sister, Darci Rose Gibson, died at the age of 19. Darci passed away in October 2025 in Manchester following an accidental overdose of crystal MDMA, which led to multi-organ failure.
In her tribute, Hagan reflected on the day of her sister's death, detailing the emotional process of organ donation. "Today was the day I recorded your heartbeat on a doppler to put into a bear for my parents.. it was the day they checked to see if your heart was suitable for transplant.. the day they ran 2 rounds of brain activity tests whilst we watched them find no signs of life.." Hagan wrote.
She continued, "But it wasn't just the day you died, it was the day you saved a life.. the day you became a hero and an angel all in one." Hagan revealed that Darci's heart was donated to a stranger, saving their life.
Hagan also shared memories of her sister, noting how the family still mentions her daily. "Not a day goes by that we don't mention you, whether it's when we see a butterfly, or AJ's wearing minions socks (she loved minions) or we're watching lion king and he asks if you're with mufasa in heaven," she wrote.
Earlier this year, Hagan issued a warning to festival-goers about the dangers of MDMA, referencing her sister's death. "Nobody thinks it'll happen to them until it does. I know my sister's death won't be the last of this nature and it's such a gut wrenching thought that other families will have to go through what we have," she posted.
She urged others to be cautious: "Please be careful. Look after your friends and don't show off. It's not worth the risk."
Hagan was devastated by her sister's passing and previously thanked paramedics and hospital staff for their care. "It is with immeasurable grief and sadness that our baby girl, my baby sister Darci Rose passed away peacefully holding my hand surrounded by family and her best friends," she stated at the time. "Because of you all we have had the opportunity to hold her hand, stroke her hair and feel her heart beating for the last time."
