Travelers returning from holidays and other trips are facing significant disruption as a result of lost or delayed luggage. Many passengers are reporting that their bags have not arrived with them, forcing them to purchase essential items and impacting their plans. The situation has led to frustration and unexpected costs for those affected.

According to advice, passengers whose luggage is delayed can claim for reasonable expenses incurred due to the missing items. This could include the cost of clothing, toiletries, or any other necessities that were packed in the suitcase. It is recommended that passengers retain receipts for all purchases made as a result of lost baggage. If luggage is not located within 21 days, it is considered lost, and passengers may be eligible for a claim up to a maximum value of approximately £1,300. Higher value items may need to be claimed through travel insurance.

One traveler, Hayley Chapman, who flew to Turkey with her family, described the necessity of spending a significant amount on clothes and toiletries to manage for the initial days of their trip. "I've literally just rinsed out my underwear, and clothes I wore out, to try and give myself another day," she stated, highlighting the immediate impact of the baggage issues.

Rowland explained that while claims should ideally be processed within 28 days, the experience can be highly frustrating, especially when passengers are unaware of the problem at the point of departure. The issues with baggage are impacting travelers' ability to enjoy their holidays and return to normalcy, with some still awaiting the return of their belongings.
