Holdout Juror in Clancy Mistrial Asks Public to Focus on Victims
Juror Michael P. Desronvil, who was the sole holdout in the Lindsay Clancy case, stated his desire to shift attention from himself to the three children who died.
Michael P. Desronvil, the sole holdout juror whose decision led to a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy case, has requested that public attention be redirected from him to the "three angels"—Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy—the children who were strangled by their mother.
"I know the whole focus has been on me, but we want to reel everything back and put the focus on the three angels," Desronvil stated in an interview on Fox News's "Hannity." He elaborated, "The ones that can’t speak for themselves. The ones that can’t defend themselves, and the ones that can’t fight their battles. And those are Cora, Dawson, and Callan."
Desronvil, a Haitian immigrant and practicing Catholic, became the center of attention after it was revealed he was the juror who prevented a unanimous verdict in the triple-murder trial. The jury had been deliberating whether Lindsay Clancy was not guilty by reason of insanity for the deaths of her children in their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. While 11 jurors reportedly concluded Clancy met the criteria for insanity, Desronvil disagreed.
The juror's role in the mistrial drew further scrutiny amid reports of alleged domestic violence in his past, an active restraining order against him, and an unresolved eviction case. Despite this, Desronvil also received support from the public, with donations flooding a fund established to assist him with legal fees and lost work.
Desronvil expressed gratitude for the support he has received, calling it a "difficult time." He thanked his supporters, his Catholic faith, and the ability to love his daughter, stating, "Your prayers, your emotional support, your psychological support is a tremendous to my heart. That I feel, that I sense, that I know. I do want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you."
