Hochul and Blakeman Agree to Single Gubernatorial Debate
New York's governor and her Republican challenger will face off on Oct. 13, hosted by Spectrum News.
Gov. Kathy Hochul and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, her Republican opponent, have agreed to participate in a single debate next month as part of their gubernatorial campaign, organizers announced Tuesday.
The debate is scheduled to take place on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. and will be hosted by Spectrum News. It will be broadcast statewide on NY1 and Spectrum News channels, and also streamed live on YouTube.
Errol Louis, host of NY1’s “Inside City Hall,” and “Capitol Tonight” anchor Susan Arbetter are set to moderate the discussion.
Blakeman had previously criticized Hochul for not agreeing to more televised debates. Spectrum News also announced it will host a debate between incumbent state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Republican candidate Joseph Hernandez on Oct. 1, and a debate between incumbent Attorney General Letitia James and her Republican challenger Saritha Komatireddy on Oct. 8.
