Clementon Park and Splash World, a 119-year-old amusement park in Camden County, New Jersey, has closed its gates permanently, according to a statement from its owners. IB Parks & Entertainment announced Wednesday that the park's final day of operation was Monday. The owners are now seeking a buyer to carry forward the legacy of the longtime attraction.

"After five memorable years, we are saddened to announce that we have made the difficult decision to close the park and plan to offer the park for sale," the statement read. The company expressed hope that a new owner would appreciate the park's history and its significance to generations of families.

Clementon Park first opened in 1907, established by New Jersey Assemblyman Theodore B. Gibbs and his sons to draw tourists to Clementon. The 52-acre property has featured numerous rides over the decades, including the Hellcat and Dragon Coaster roller coasters, the Ring of Fire, Thunder Drop, and the Sea Dragon. Splash World, a water park component, was added in July 1993 following a $5 million renovation.

The park has a history of ownership changes and closures. It was sold by the Gibbs family in 1977 and later purchased by Adrenaline Family Entertainment in 2007. The park initially closed in 2019 due to a foreclosure after its owner defaulted on a $4.5 million loan. IB Parks & Entertainment acquired the property at auction for $2.37 million in 2021 and reopened the park that summer.

The owners did not provide a specific reason for the recent closure or indicate a listing price for the property. More details regarding the sale are expected to be released as they become available. IB Parks & Entertainment also owns Indiana Beach Amusement and Water Park and Niagara Amusement Park & Splash World.
