Hillary Clinton recently addressed two of Donald Trump's current controversies, posing a critical question about his capabilities and integrity.
On Tuesday, Clinton questioned on X, "Why can’t Trump clean a pool, or throw a real 250th party?" She added, "It’s not (just) incompetence. It’s also corruption," summarizing what she sees as the root of Trump's recent challenges.
To support her assertions, Clinton shared visual evidence, including images that appeared to depict low attendance at the Great American State Fair, an event that had reportedly been promoted with significant hype. She also highlighted information from the consumer advocacy organization Public Citizen. This group pointed to over $100 million in federal contracts and grants for the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations that were awarded to entities allegedly influenced by Trump administration officials and political allies.
Clinton also drew attention to the ongoing issues with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The pool has experienced algae problems following a renovation project initiated under Trump's administration. Clinton shared a Wall Street Journal headline noting that the company responsible for cleaning the pool stated it had "nothing to hide." The subheadline indicated that Greenwater Services received a no-bid contract and is partially owned by an individual with a criminal record who is also described as a friend of Trump.
Clinton's commentary followed an incident on Truth Social where Trump shared an image, reportedly generated by AI, that depicted Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris wearing hats suggesting they had lost to Trump. While the slogan accurately applied to Clinton and Trump's 2016 opponent, Harris, Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential election. Trump has continued to make false claims about the election results.
