Hilary Swank, 52, Announces Pregnancy With Third Child

Hilary Swank, 52, announced this week that she is expecting her third child. The Oscar-winning actress shared the news via an Instagram video, where she participated in a TikTok dance trend.

Swank and her husband, Philip Schneider, welcomed twins Ohm and Aya in April 2023. In the video announcing her current pregnancy, Swank taped neon glowsticks onto dark clothing to create a glowing stick-figure. Her husband and two children also participated, with a small glowstick figure over Swank's belly revealing the pregnancy. The accompanying caption read, "A lot of people have been asking what project I'm doing next, this one releases in December."

Months before the pregnancy announcement, Swank spoke with Women's Health about becoming a mother later in life. She reflected on being more patient, understanding, and present with her children.

"I'm a very different parent than I would've been, even in my early 40s," Swank told the outlet in November. "I'm much more patient. I'm much more understanding. I am much more, I think, interested in a different way than I would've been."

She added that with her career established, she is "not divided" and is able to "really sink in and be present with them and be a hands-on parent."

Swank explained that while she would have become a mother earlier, having children later was "the right time for myriad reasons." She also discussed freezing her eggs, which she said helped "take some of the pressure off" when she was ready to start a family.

Following her latest pregnancy announcement, Swank commented on the timing of life events, stating, "things happen in their time, not ours." This sentiment resonated with fans, with some sharing that her experience in her 50s offered them hope. In response to one follower, Swank wrote, "It can! I always go by the adage, things happen in their time, not ours, and that has always been the case for me."

Swank and Schneider wed in 2018. She previously announced her first pregnancy in October 2022, telling Extra at the time that she had thought about motherhood since she was young but waited until her career and relationship were stable.

"I was having a career and not having the right relationship until … four years ago, and all the elements needed to come together and be right," Swank said. "It's just something I thought about even as a young girl. It's something that was on my mind, so it's nice to be here and just be pregnant."

In 2020, Swank discussed her maternal instincts with the Daily Mail, describing herself as "very maternal in the people that I care for and all the sentient being I have around me – my dogs, my horses or just the human beings."
