Hilaria Baldwin is spending her July vacation in Mallorca, Spain, visiting family with her seven children. The update comes five years after Baldwin faced scrutiny over her Spanish heritage.
Baldwin, 42, shared a series of images and video clips on Instagram Tuesday documenting the family's activities. The slideshow included shots of her children with actor Alec Baldwin—Carmen, 12; Rafael, 10; Leonardo, nine; Romeo, eight; Eduardo, five; Lucía, five; and Ilaria, three—as well as selfies and outdoor excursions.
In a May interview with The Daily Mail, Baldwin discussed her summer plans, expressing a desire to spend more time in Spain. "I'm bringing my kids to go be with my family for the month of July in Mallorca," she said. "So I'm super-excited. So that's like kind of how I envision the summers going forward. I hope that we can spend more time there and... with my family, and so we'll see."
She described the trip as a way to "test the waters" for spending summers in Spain rather than the Hamptons. Baldwin noted that she planned to spend half the summer in Spain with her family before returning to the Hamptons.
The current trip to Mallorca occurs five years after Baldwin, born Hillary Hayward-Thomas in Boston, became the subject of a controversy regarding her declared Spanish heritage. Reports in 2020 highlighted that she was born in Massachusetts, not Spain, and her accent had varied in interviews. Baldwin has stated that she was raised with both American and Spanish cultures, and her parents have resided in Mallorca since 2011.
In early 2021, Baldwin issued an apology on Instagram, acknowledging that she "should have been more clear" but maintained her connection to both cultures. She has also described her accent shifts as "code-switching."
Baldwin and her husband are also in the process of selling their Hamptons home, which was first listed in September 2022. The property has seen several price reductions, with its current asking price reported as $18.99 million.
Baldwin has expressed a desire for change and adventure, noting that her family is growing and may require more space than their New York residence offers. She has previously stated that she is open to living in various locations.
