Fans attending a convention in Glasgow to meet actor Christopher Lambert, who starred in the cult classic film "Highlander," were required to check in their replica swords due to heightened security concerns. The event, held at Braehead Arena, implemented strict protocols for attendees bringing any bladed items, citing the United Kingdom's "severe" terror threat level.

Organizers informed attendees in advance that while swords could still be signed, they would need to be surrendered to security staff upon arrival. The replica weapons would be stored securely and only returned to their owners when they were leaving the venue. Security personnel would retrieve the swords from storage only for the allocated signing time with Lambert, who portrayed Connor MacLeod in the original 1986 "Highlander" movie.

The precautions were intended to prevent real swords from being brought into the venue unnoticed among the numerous replicas. The "severe" threat level, as defined by MI5, means that an attack is considered highly likely.

The "Highlander" film, known for its tagline "There can be only one!" and its depiction of immortal warriors battling across centuries, has gained a significant cult following since its release. The franchise has since expanded to include sequels and television spin-offs.

Scotland has recently been a hub for filming related to a new "Highlander" remake, with actors such as Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, and Kevin McKidd spotted in various locations, including Eilean Donan Castle.

The Film & Comic Con Glasgow also featured other notable guests from the sci-fi and pop culture world, including Craig Charles, Varada Sethu, and Tommy Knight.
