A black helicopter executed a series of daring maneuvers, including shooting flames and smoke, over the Newport Beach Country Club, startling and captivating onlookers. The spectacle occurred during a private event and prompted a reassuring statement from local law enforcement.
The Newport Beach Police Department addressed the unusual activity, informing residents via social media about a planned demonstration. "Residents near Newport Beach Country Club may notice increased noise and activity during a private event from 5:45– 6:00 p.m.," the department posted on X. "The event will include a helicopter flyover, fireworks, loud noises, and theatrical smoke effects as part of a planned demonstration."
The display was part of the opening gala for the Seal Future Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Navy SEALs as they transition to civilian life, assisting with their well-being, education, and career development.
The helicopter involved in the event has ties to Hollywood, identified as belonging to HOLLYWOODS ASTAR LLC. This company's ownership includes Fred North, a renowned movie helicopter pilot known for his work on films such as "Armageddon," "Seven Years in Tibet," and Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."
The demonstration, lasting approximately 15 minutes, was intended as a planned event and not a cause for concern, according to the police department's statement. The event took place in Newport Beach, located in Orange County, about 48 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
