A flight instructor and his student narrowly escaped serious injury after a helicopter they were in repeatedly slammed into a runway at Cedar City Regional Airport in Utah. The incident, which occurred on May 23, was captured on CCTV footage released by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

The video shows a red Bell 206 helicopter lifting off before it bounced and lost control, careening across the taxiway. The chopper's tail section appeared to shear off during one of the impacts as it continued to spin and crash until it came to a rest in a cloud of dust and debris.

According to the NTSB report, the crash was caused by the 32-year-old instructor losing control of the aircraft, and not due to any mechanical failure. The pilot and his 25-year-old student were reported to have sustained only minor injuries. The NTSB did not release their identities.
