Helicopter Crashes Near Deadly Los Angeles Bus Collision Scene
At least one fatality confirmed following aircraft incident in Chatsworth.
A helicopter crashed in Los Angeles Tuesday evening, resulting in at least one fatality, near the site of a separate, fatal bus collision that occurred earlier the same night.
The helicopter went down around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Northoff Street and DeSoto Avenue in Chatsworth. The aircraft landed on shipping containers and several parked vehicles, sparking a large blaze that firefighters worked to extinguish. Firefighters were observed erecting a canopy over a body after the flames were put out.
The crash occurred in the vicinity of an earlier incident where an SUV collided with a bus, killing two people and injuring six others. The cause of the helicopter crash remains undetermined, and details regarding its operator or origin have not yet been released.
Local news outlets had reportedly been using helicopters to capture aerial footage of the bus crash when the second aircraft went down.
