Helen Mirren Stars in New Crime Thriller 'A Talent for Murder'
The acclaimed actress graced the red carpet for the premiere of 'A Talent for Murder' in New York City, showcasing her distinctive style.
Helen Mirren, 81, made a striking appearance on the red carpet for the premiere of the crime thriller "A Talent for Murder" in New York on Wednesday. The Oscar winner donned an elegant black tulle prom skirt paired with a long-sleeved top, accessorized with layered pearls and matching earrings. A chic black bag and pointed black heels completed her ensemble.
Mirren was accompanied by her co-star Alden Ehrenreich, who chose a green corduroy suit for the occasion.
"A Talent for Murder" is directed by Anton Corbijn and adapted by screenwriter Joanna Murray-Smith from her 2014 stage play, "Switzerland." The film is set in 1995 and follows a young publisher from New York, played by Ehrenreich, sent to Switzerland to convince renowned author Patricia Highsmith, portrayed by Mirren, to write one final installment in the Tom Ripley series. The narrative takes a sinister turn as the publisher's efforts escalate.
Also featured in the cast is Olivia Cooke, known for her role in "The Girlfriend." Cooke plays Clementine Balfour.
Previously, Mirren attended the London premiere of "Mob Land" last month, where she was seen interacting with co-star Tom Hardy. Reports had surfaced regarding on-set tensions between Hardy and production during the filming of "Mob Land," leading to speculation about his departure from the show after its second season. However, it has since been suggested that Hardy and producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser are working through creative differences with plans for a third season.
Addressing rumors of behind-the-scenes friction in a prior interview, Mirren commented on her experience working with different personalities as she has aged. At the "Mob Land" premiere, she appeared alongside Pierce Brosnan.
In "Mob Land," Mirren plays Maeve Harrigan, while Tom Hardy portrays the fixer Harry Da Souza. Pierce Brosnan plays Maeve's husband, Conrad Harrigan.
