Oliver Boot, the actor ex-husband of Call The Midwife star Helen George, has become a father with his wife, theatre actress Emma Harrold. The couple welcomed a son named Ralph David Boot on May 15.
Harrold confirmed the baby's arrival on social media, stating that Ralph was born weighing 3.14kg after an emergency caesarean section following a difficult labor. She shared photos of their newborn, noting the delivery involved "quite a bumpy journey into the world" and "many hours of labour." Boot and Harrold quietly married in August 2023, eight years after Boot's separation from George was announced.
George, 42, and Boot, 47, met while starring in the BBC drama Hotel Babylon and married in 2012. Their separation was confirmed in September 2015. Boot subsequently took on the role of Draco Malfoy in "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child" in the West End, while Harrold, 35, is also a theatre actress. The couple appeared together in a production of the musical "Oliver!" at Leicester's Curve theatre in November 2015, shortly after George's separation from Boot was publicly confirmed.
George and Boot did not have children together. George later welcomed two daughters, Wren and Lark, with her Call The Midwife co-star Jack Ashton, from whom she announced her separation in 2023.
In related personal news, George has revealed that she has begun wearing her wedding band from her marriage to Boot again. She discussed the decision on her podcast, Mystic Mates, explaining that she was inspired by the author Jennifer Worth, whose character in "Call The Midwife" wore a ring from a past relationship as a reminder. George stated, "I will say this. This was my wedding band... And I thought, 'I'm going to do the same actually because it is part of me.'"
George recently experienced a breakup with property marketing agency boss Dan Innes, 52, after dating for several months. She described the period following their July split as "pretty s**t." George has also humorously shared her criteria for a future partner, joking she is looking for an Australian husband who is "slightly spiritual, but very practical."
