Taylor Thomson, an heiress to the Thomson Reuters media fortune, has purchased a penthouse in Los Angeles for $36 million, one of the city's largest-ever condominium sales. The 66-year-old Canadian heiress recently made headlines after reportedly losing over $80 million in cryptocurrency investments.
The 7,365-square-foot condominium is located in the Sierra Towers building and features three bedrooms and six bathrooms. The residence boasts white-oak floors, high ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling glass walls offering city views. Finishes include Simena limestone, Cristallo quartzite, custom white oak millwork, and hammered bronze.
Sierra Towers, situated on the border of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, has a history of celebrity residents, including Elton John, Cher, Adam Sandler, and Sandra Bullock. The building offers amenities such as a 24/7 concierge, fitness center, pool, spa, sauna, valet, security, and a ballroom.
Thomson, described as eccentric, previously pursued an acting career. A 2025 investigative report by The Wall Street Journal detailed her relationship with Ashley Richardson, a former friend who allegedly managed Thomson's cryptocurrency investments. The report indicated that the friendship soured after both women made significant investments in a defunct cryptocurrency called Persistence. According to the report, Richardson is now reportedly working as an Uber driver, while Thomson has made this significant real estate purchase.
A representative for Thomson did not comment on the sale. The real estate blog North Hillcrest was the first to report the transaction.
