Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz Embrace German Heritage at Oktoberfest
The supermodel and her husband donned traditional Bavarian attire for a festive date night in Munich.
Heidi Klum, 53, and her husband Tom Kaulitz, 37, immersed themselves in German tradition during a visit to Oktoberfest in Munich on Friday. The couple embraced the cultural celebration, arriving in traditional Bavarian outfits.
Klum, a German supermodel, and Kaulitz, the lead guitarist for the band Tokio Hotel, participated in the festivities at the Theresienwiese, the site of the annual two-week event in the Bavarian capital. This year marked Klum's return to her native Germany from the United States, where she resides with her family.
Klum wore a blue traditional Bavarian dirndl and was observed enjoying a bubble blower. Kaulitz complemented her attire with a traditional waistcoat and lederhosen. The pair appeared to be in good spirits, celebrating with friends amidst the fairground rides and food stalls that characterize the festival.
Earlier in the week, Klum shared a video on Instagram documenting her efforts to fit into a plunging pink dirndl in preparation for the celebrations. She was later pictured drinking beer at the Braeurosl beer tent.
Klum's visit to Oktoberfest followed a celebration called HeidiFest in her home country. For that event, she wore a vibrant yellow floral dirndl. Kaulitz also wore traditional German attire, including lederhosen and a light blue shirt and vest. Their children, Leni, 22, and Henry, 21, along with Klum's mother Erna, also attended HeidiFest. Leni wore a baby blue dress, while Henry donned a look similar to Kaulitz.
The Oktoberfest festival itself has a long history, originating in 1810 to commemorate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. It now attracts over seven million visitors annually.
