Federal agents searched the West Hollywood home of actress Hayden Panettiere on Tuesday, according to a source who spoke with U.S. Weekly. The agents reportedly obtained a search warrant for the premises.
Panettiere, 36, was found unresponsive on August 16 at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina. Her on-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were present at the time. Zach Hickerson stated that he called 911 while Brian administered Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, to Panettiere. The brothers then reportedly performed CPR until emergency services arrived.
Paramedics declared Panettiere dead at 2:31 p.m. local time. A police report noted that the patient did not appear to have any obvious physical reasons for being unresponsive. Narcan was later found on a mattress inside the South Carolina property.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has joined the investigation into Panettiere's death. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a post-mortem examination was completed and revealed no signs of trauma on her body. Further investigations are underway to determine the official cause of death.
Brian Hickerson's attorney released a statement acknowledging the ongoing investigation and noting that police have confirmed there were no signs of foul play. The statement requested privacy for Panettiere's loved ones and indicated no further comment would be made at this time.
In the wake of Panettiere's death, her representative issued a statement condemning what they described as gossip and speculation from individuals not close to the actress. The representative urged those with legitimate information to contact law enforcement rather than speculating publicly. The statement also indicated that there are significant details about the star's death that have not yet been disclosed and that those closest to Panettiere are cooperating with investigators to ensure the truth emerges.
